The Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library

In Remembrance of Jo Anne Darcy ( May 2, 1931 — October 29, 2017)

Jo Anne Darcy recently passed away but she left behind a lovely legacy in Santa Clarita.  Before the city incorporated, she was supervisor Michael Antonovich's field deputy and then she became a local city councilman and mayor.  She had a volunteer heart and started the Newhall Walk of Western Stars in 1981 and served as president of Zonta.  She took part in starting the Domestic Violence Center, the annual Wine Auction for the Senior Center, and the Celebrity Waiter dinner for the American Heart Association.

In 2001 the county of Los Angeles emblazoned her name on the Jo Anne Darcy Canyon Country Library.  And a little known fact is she helped launch the first local Friends of the Libraries group. So from the current Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library Group we say "thank you JoAnn for your wonderful part in our City's history and you will be missed."

Our Mission

The Friends of Santa Clarita Public Library support the library through advocacy, volunteer service, supplemental funding and by fostering a close relationship between the library and the community.
